Naturopathic Consultations
Sarah offers expert naturopathic advice and utilises different health modalities to achieve the best possible personalised care and managment to suit your health and lifestyle requirements.
A Naturopath treats "the person as a whole not just their disease". This means it is necessary to gain enough information about the person and their lifestyle to accurately assess what might be causing underlying issues which can lead to disease in the body. Prevention is always better than cure! Disease is multifactorial, just treating the symptoms works for a short time, however, this kind of treatment only masks the underlying cause of why it happened in the first place.
Health takes work! As a naturopath I can educate and provide you with the tools you need to empower you to take control of your life and health for a happier, healthier you!
I believe in working from the ground up, this is where 'what you eat' comes in. Diet is responsible for 80% of health issues, working on your diet and making simple changes to your current eating habits can avoid the need for taking unnecessary nutritional supplements, and save you money. This does not mean you need to give up all the foods you love.
All information exchanged during your consultation is confidential and will not be disclosed without your personal consent. Sometimes it is necessary to work with another health care professional to manage your case for the best care possible, for example referral to a general practitioner for blood tests or further investigations. Your privacy is of utmost importance.
Initial Consultation includes:
What you need to bring to your first appointment?

Follow-up Consultation includes: 30 minutes
Acute Consultation: 15 minutes

Massage
We hold tension in our bodies and it is important to address this as it can have negative effects on your health and well-being. Sarah is fully qualified in the following massage techniques:
- Relaxation Massage: to de-stress the body and mind and allow the muscles to relax and tension to melt away.
- Remedial Massage: this therapy aims to bring about change to the muscles and is great when there are a lot of knots, pain and recurrent headaches from tense muscles. Combining remedial techniques with myofacial release and trigger point therapies gains the best results.
- Lymphatic Drainage Massage: combined with aromatherapy oils is a great way to detoxify the body. This is perfect in combination with a liver detoxification program.
Herbal Medicine
Herbs have been used for thousands of years with much success in treating people's health. Before modern medicine, herbs and foods were the medicine. It was common knowledge to know about what herbs to use if they, or a loved one, got sick. Herbal teas and herbs boiled in wine were popular treatment options available. Today we have perfected the art as herbalists using both traditional knowledge of the plants as well as the scientifically studied actions and therapeutic properties of theses herbs. Many pharmaceutical drugs are made from medicinal plants.
Sarah's herbals are well known in Newcastle and are sought after by her clients. A herbal formula is put together with the patient's condition and health concerns in mind and is personally tailored to you. It can be as simple as one herb or up to 6 herbs. Herbs in a herb mix or tincture work synergistically to have a positive effect.
Herbs can be mixed and taken with water or juice to improve the taste. Children often love the taste of herbs and line up to take them.

Nutritional Medicine
Adequate nutrition is so important in this day and age. Where our food comes from and how it is prepared impacts our nutritional status. We are living in a society where cheap food options are take-away and fast foods, making good old home cooked meals a thing of the past. The thing to understand about food, is how can a 2-year old apple that has been in cold storage and has had so many chemicals sprayed on it to keep it perfect looking, be of any health benefit to us? We are eating 'dead food' and expecting to be healthy and disease free. There are so many foods that need sugar, salt or flavour enhancers to taste like the food should taste if it were fresh and live. It is no wonder we have allergies and behavioural issues on the rise in children and our ageing population.
The best thing you can do is find:
