Q. What is a Naturopath?
A. A naturopath is a health care professional who takes the time to listen and understands the connections between your mental, emotional, physical, diet, lifestyle, environmental and spiritual problems. Q. Do I need to book for my consultation?
A. Yes, consultations by appointment only
Q. What if I can't get to the clinic?
A. Mobile service for in-home consultations is available, provided you live locally. Sarah services areas from Newcastle and surrounding areas (NSW) to Gosford, Central Coast (NSW) and in-between.
Q. Is a phone consultation possible?
A. Yes. The first consultation needs to be face-to-face however, any consultation thereafter can be a phone consultation if required.
Q. What is a herbal tincture?
A. Liquid tinctures or herbals are made from different herbs that have a therapeutic quality. The 'active constituents' or 'ingredients' are extracted in alcohol. Naturopaths and herbalists combine different herbs together for different actions in the body, treating the cause, not just the symptoms. The liquid extract is mixed with water or juice and taken.
Q. How does a naturopath differ from a general practitioner?
A. Both are very important in the management of you and your family's health. Working together gives the best of both worlds. A naturopath differs in a few ways. An initial consultation is in-depth and usually takes 1hr to 1.5hrs this is to assess your current and past medical, family history as well as dietary and lifestyle issues. Naturopathy aims to correct and treat the cause of issues rather than masking and treating just the symptoms. Prevention is always better than cure! Naturopaths use a variety of different therapies to tailor the very best treatment for you. We are all different and what works for one person may not work for you.
Naturopaths and general practitioners can both refer you for pathology testing, which is a great way to assess and monitor your progress.
General practitioners/doctors are able to prescribe pharmaceutical medications such as antibiotics etc. these are sometimes necessary and life saving.
Q. What do I need to do for a successful outcome
A. For positive health changes to occur there needs to be a shift in your consciousness and awareness. It is important to understand how to 'take charge of your health' and learn 'self-empowerment' with knowledge and tools. You may need to make changes to certain areas of your life to change your health's direction, otherwise your health will not improve in the long run. This is something that can be challenging and requires your commitment.
Q. What is the purpose of Naturopathic treatments?
A. Naturopathic treatments usually have 3 main focal points:
